The Arms Trials

One hour account of the 1970 Arms Trials. Talk will explain Fianna Fail policy on the north at the time; role of Jack Lynch and the Irish cabinet at the outbreak of the Troubles; context in which the prosecutions of Charles Haughey, Neil Blaney, Cpt Kelly and Albert Lyuykx arose; the conduct of the trial; the verdicts; the political impact the outcome had; and how the episode is viewed decades later.

Organised by Mark Bassett BL.
