Sounds Like a Boy’s Life
Sounds Like a Boy’s Life is an exciting collaboration between the Ulster Orchestra and acclaimed writer of memoir Tony Doherty. First performed to a standing ovation at Derry’s Nerve Centre during the 2017 Foyle Film Festival, the collaboration is based upon memoir extracts from the award short-listed This Man’s Wee Boy (2016) and The Dead Beside Us (2017), fusing musical references in both books with an outstanding, specially-composed musical arrangement by Philip Walton. Both books chart Tony’s young life growing up in Derry in the idyllically peaceful 1960s to the increasingly violent 1970s and 80s. Not to be missed!
