Amazing People, Amazing Lives: Winifred Carney & John Quinn

Join the Shared History Interpretive Project (SHIP) for the refurbishment and re-lettering of the Winifred Carney grave and the addition of a granite surround to the John Quinn grave. Followed by the launch of a new Winifred Carney lapel badge and a display of the SHIP historical, maritime, political and social exhibition in the Felons Club.

John Quinn, like Winifred was a comrade of James Connolly. He moved Winifred’s nomination papers when she stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for Victoria Ward in the 1918 elections. Included in the exhibition are copies of the original ITGWU membership ledgers dated 1917, 1919 and 1961, containing the names, address, employment, date of joining, and subscription details.  Visitors will be able to search through the ledgers to look for relatives. The 1961 ledger will be of interest to any who was an ITGWU member that year. Come along and have a browse.
